⏱️ Response Times

We aim to respond to all enquiries within 2 business days. If you are reporting a data issue, include the registration number and a short summary so we can check it quickly.

🐞 Report a Problem

If you've found incorrect data, a broken feature or something that doesn't look right, please let us know. Include the vehicle registration (if applicable) and a description of the issue so we can investigate.

💡 Feature Suggestions

We're always looking to improve. If there's a feature you'd like to see — a new check, a different comparison metric, or anything else — drop us a message and we'll consider it for future updates.

What to Include in Your Message

Most questions get answered faster if the first message contains enough to act on. Depending on what you are writing about, these are the details that save a round trip:

  • A data or scoring problem: the registration number, what the site showed you, and what you believe it should have shown. If you are comparing against the official record, say so.
  • Something broken: the page address, what you did, what happened, and what you expected instead. The device and browser help — a fault that only appears on one mobile browser is otherwise very hard to reproduce.
  • A factual error in a guide: the page and the sentence you think is wrong. A link to a primary source is welcome but not required — we will check it.
  • A disagreement with the reliability score: the registration and your reasoning. Our published methodology sets out the weightings, so it is usually possible to pinpoint exactly which part you disagree with.

Corrections Policy

We publish guides on tax, MOT rules and vehicle history, and rules change. If we have got something wrong, we want to fix it rather than defend it.

Report a factual error and we will check it against the primary source. If we are wrong, we correct the page. If a correction changes the substance of the advice rather than just a detail, we say what changed. If we think the original was right, we will tell you why rather than simply ignoring the message.

The one thing we cannot change is the underlying government record. If the DVSA or DVLA data for a vehicle is itself wrong, that has to be corrected at source — see the first question below.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MOT data seems wrong for my vehicle — can you fix it?

Our data comes directly from the DVSA and DVLA. If you believe the data is incorrect, you should contact the DVSA directly at GOV.UK MOT corrections. Once they update their records, our data will reflect the change on the next lookup.

Can you remove my vehicle from your search results?

We do not store permanent vehicle data. We retrieve data from government APIs on demand and cache it temporarily (up to 24 hours). We cannot remove data that comes from official DVSA/DVLA sources as it is public information.

Do you offer a commercial API or bulk data service?

Not currently. Our service is designed for individual vehicle checks. For commercial or bulk vehicle data needs, we recommend registering directly with the DVSA MOT History API.

How can I support the site?

The best way to support us is to share the site with friends, family or anyone looking to buy a used car. You can also help by disabling your ad blocker on our site — advertising revenue is what keeps the service free.

Important Note

Used Car Checker is not affiliated with the DVSA, DVLA or any government department. We cannot help with official MOT test disputes, vehicle registration issues or tax queries. For those, please contact the relevant government body directly through GOV.UK.
